I'm not sure why my grandma ate it - she didn't have any immigrant parents or grandparents to blame it on. I'm pretty sure that there were hooves involved in her version. Blech.

In my family while it was called pickled pigs
feet, it was really pieces of pork in the
gelatin and called sulz. No hooves to speak
of. I thought it was my
Polish heritage, but maybe, German??

I love peas!! Fresh or frozen though, not canned. :)
I admit that I can eat calamari on occasion if prepared correctly. Clams and oysters are definitely out though!! I tried to choke one down a couple of times and it just wouldn't go!!
I don't know how on earth my grandma would eat those pickled pigs feet.

I haven't thought about pickled pigs feet or
sulz in years! I never tasted it as it looked
so disgusting. Gray jello with 'stuff' in it!

I'm with you on clams and oysters, I like to
chew my food. Love lobster, and crab, but
don't like fighting with my food to get at it.
Squid, if prepared correctly, is great -
especially hot and spicy from my favorite
Chinese restaurant.

My hated childhood food - peas - and I was
forced to eat them. I won't touch them to
this day - decades later - and I never introduced
them to my kids as baby food. Somehow they
learned to eat them, but not in my house.
Occasionally my husband will buy a small can
for himself.
