Follow Friday: This Week’s Favorite Finds

After our whirlwind trip to Kansas, I had a lot of catching up to do – in my real life and my online one. 🙂

Here are some of my favorite finds from the past TWO weeks…

  • You Never Know Unless You Ask!  That statement is SO incredibly true.  It makes me wonder what types of treasures might be hidden in my older relatives’ crawl spaces or basements.  So many questions could be answered.  Head over to A Sense of Family to read about her recent exciting find!
  • I love Kerry’s post over at Clue Wagon about incorporating your family history into your home decor.  I have always loved maps anyway, but to hang maps of where my ancestors lived is even better!!!
  • You can’t even begin to imagine the amount of papers which are around my house.  Between having genealogy as a hobby and homeschooling 5 kids, we kill a lot of trees!!  I loved the post over at Diggin’ for FamilyWhat to Keep and What to Toss… because I am having the exact same problem.  How many school papers do I really need to keep?  Do I digitize them?  Are my kids going to be heartbroken if they aren’t able to look back on the report they wrote in 3rd grade about Abe Lincoln??
  • Linda says that Lula Can’t Always Be Trusted and she is right!  Of course, my GPS is named Eliza Jane and has a British accent – but they are definitely related!  She often shows be off-roading in the woods or floating in a river somewhere.  She is helpful, but not to be trusted!
  • Sweethearts, Sidewalks, and Carbolic Acid.  What a sad story over at Finding Family Stories!
  • The topic for this week’s Geneabloggers Radio show cracks me up!  Genealogists Bore Their Families – What You Can Do About It. It sounds like it will be a fun one! 🙂
  • Oh my goodness – naked sunburned turkeys!!  I never thought I’d hear a story about that on a genealogy blog.  Thanks Debbie at Mascot Manor Genealogy for making me laugh!   Truth IS usually stranger than fiction!
  • There is a new blogging prompt coming to Geneabloggers – Friday Funny.  Can’t wait to read some of these!!

And a few pictures from the past two busy weeks…

My husband and his dad:

Lexie, my 7 yr old:

Flowers that I wish were in my garden (who am I kidding – I don’t even HAVE a garden!):

She is not allowed to grow up this fast!!! 12 going on 20…

Until next week!!!
