This picture belonged to my grandfather, Donald Sanchez. Of course it’s not labeled. Any idea where it might be? Maybe Crater Lake, OR??

Hmmm, not sure about Crater Lake. It doesn’t seem to be a match to the current photos I see. Almost looks like something at the Grand Canyon? Or somewhere else in the southwest?
How about Lake Powell.
Definitely not Crater Lake…I would also suggest the southwest. Lake Powell is a great thought. This photo shows features that can be found there. However, I can’t be more specific…this area doesn’t match any of the photos or memories that I have of the lake.
You guys are right – the terrain features make it more likely to be in the South West. I had the North West on my brain, because that’s where they lived, but they definitely could have a made a long road trip!
I looked at some picture of Lake Powell (which I have never been to by the way) and it does look similar.
I tried the Google Search by image – by dragging and dropping the image into the search engine, but it definitely didn’t work. I had everything from sneakers to the Sphinx to tea sets showing up, but no other lakes. Weird. Have any of you had any success with searching by image before?
I thought it looks like some of the rim rock areas of eastern Washington, one near Palouse Falls or one near the Grand Coulee.
When I first saw that picture, I thought eastern Washington. That’s before I read your comments. I agree with Charles on the possibilities.
What were your grandfather’s birth/death dates?
Then you could check the dates when Lake Mead
and Lake Powell were formed…..bur the cliffs
don’t look high enough to me. Too bad the
photo isn’t in color <8-((
He was born in 1918 and died in 2002..
I tend toward the Lake Powell or Lake Mead area. I don’t see any sign of a higher water mark. Couldn’t this be the filling of some body of water that, at it’s ‘full’ mark, wouldn’t look like any water line we’d recognize today?
I agree that it is not Crater Lake, but how about the Potholes State Park area of eastern Washington – specifically Potholes Coulee?
I lived in Washington my entire childhood and young adulthood and have never been to that part of the state! Shame on me! I will look online at some pictures of that area. Thanks!
