Follow Friday: This Week’s Favorite Finds

Is it just me, or are the weeks just flying by? I don’t feel like I’m accomplishing much, but I’ve been busy working on preparing for the next year of homeschooling. I will be teaching kids who are 12, 9, 7, and 5 – and trying to keep my 3 yr old busy and out from under our feet. The key to success is being prepared and organized, but this of course takes time. 🙂

Here are some of my favorite finds from this week:

  1. Head over to AnceStories this Sunday for June’s Scanfest.  I really should join in, but we’re usually busy doing family stuff on Sundays, so I don’t have time to sit down at the computer for long.  I have a stack full of mostly documents that I need to digitize.  I will eventually get around to it.  Maybe when the kids are grown.
  2. I always find it so interesting to hear how people from different places pronounce things differently.  Valeria over at Begin with “Craft” had a great post entitled “I Can’t Understand You!”  I miss the southern accents in Savannah….
  3. Heather Kuhn Roelker, over at Leaves for Trees, had a great idea about starting a Geneablogger database – so we can easily find blogging cousins. I like it!
  4. Lisa Alzo, the Accidental Genealogist, is giving a free webinar hosted by Legacy called “Ready, Set, Write!  Share Your Family’s Story”. I’ve signed up!  I am very interested in putting all of these names and dates into a story someday. 🙂
  5. I had a very simple DNA test done on my brother about 3 years ago (it was free with an Ancestry membership).  I have been thinking more and more that I would like to do one myself though – and another more in-depth one on my brother.  I was interested to read Ginger’s post about her DNA experience so far.
