Wordless Wednesday: 1900s Schoolroom

A portion of this postcard-style picture was torn off.  On the back, it says Pearl Sanchez, Atwater (in Minnesota).  Pearl was my Grandpa Don’s oldest sister.  She was born in 1901, so this was probably taken around 1910 (just a guess). I think that she may be the girl in the very front (closest).  I am not sure, but she has the Sanchez look to her.

classic picture. All the children looked well behaved with their hands clasped together on their desks and the school ‘mum’ watching over them.ReplyCancel

Every early school photo I have seen has been an outdoor photo- either on the steps of the school or in the yard. What a neat indoor photo!ReplyCancel

You are right – they are normally outside. My guess is that since they are in Minnesota, maybe it was too cold for an outside picture. :)ReplyCancel
