Thank you! I have tried to digitize a lot of what I have, but I haven't done it all. That will be one of my #1 priorities when we get settled in again. I would feel much better if I had it all on the computer.
I can't send it to my kids (they are ages 2-11) but I can send it to my sister and parents and my husband's parents. I have a subscription to mozy.com also - and they do periodic backups online. I have had to use it once for my iTunes library, so I know that it works!
So, I guess that I'm going to be scanning, scanning, scanning. :)

I discovered your site when researching my 5th Great Grandfather, Edward "Neddie" Boone. Great site, thanks for sharing. My husband and I are full time RVers for6 years now. We love the life style. We sold our home in Yreka, CA early in 2004 and the RV is now our home, leaving us free to find ancestors. We are both avid genealogists. As far as protecting your data - backup, backup, backup! Put as much as you can on a CD AND a storage device, including all your family photos. Send copies to your children is that is possible, and guard your laptop with your life! We've never had a problem with lost data - so far - and hopefully we'll never have that problem. If a child isn't available to store a copy of your data, leave a copy with a trusted friend or family member.

My connection with Edward Boone is thru his granddaughter, Malinda Scholl and her marriage to Joseph Jackson in Pike Co, IL.

Would sending them UPS to your parents work? Or to us? with a proviso that where ever you send them they must be signed for?
All our things did get through moves o.k....except Grandma Cossaboon's teacups! I had packed them separately from the saucers and now all I have are the saucers! Don't know which move those were lost. Mom W.
