I’m not sure who these women are, but they are from my Melhus or Kvam line. It was taken in Trondhjeim, Norway. Anyone have a guess as to what year this might be?

Could the way they dressed and the furniture piece and the deco in the background give some clues as to what the time period was when this picture was taken?
It looks like maybe in the 1860′s day dresses.
Great exercise. I am still struggling with identifying dress. Do you have any resources for looking.?
Thanks.
I am really not sure who they might be. My great-grandmother was born in 1881 in Norway. She emigrated in 1889 and would have been very young. I think that rules her out. Her mother was born in 1851 though and I know that they lived in Trondheim for a while before emigrating. I don’t have any pictures of her (that I know of) so I can’t compare them. I am hoping that someday I find another descendant that has the same picture – with some writing on the back of it!!!
I will have to check out some websites on period clothing to see if I can get a more exact date to the picture. Thanks for the comments and suggestions!
Hi!
It must have been taken in the period 1885-1891. It was then the photographer (Olav P. Skjevlo) had his photo studio in Prinsensgade (The Prince’s street) in Trondheim (Trondhjem).
Best luck with your research!
Thank you so much for that information! That should help me in narrowing down who they might be!!
